(also Belgian)

- La Musique, Ca bourge! (Music is Motion!)
This interactive concert created by I Musici de Montréal and
choreographer Jean Leger creates a ballet. With Jean Leger as
choreographer, ringleader and master of ceremonies, members of the
audience (youngsters, parents, whomever) participate in on-the-spot
choreography in interaction with the musicians of I Musici de
Montréal. The full length program is 90 minutes long, and there are
shorter versions available. After the choreography is prepared on
the stage, a skit is performed in which all have participated. La
Musique, Ca bourge comes with an excellent study guide and a CD of
the musical works performed during the presentation.
- The Toy Symphony: In The Toy Symphony Concert, I
Musici de Montréal offers a family concert project (or school
outreach concert) wherein students from the community where the
group is to perform actually join the professionals in rehearsal and
performance. The performers and the management work closely with the
community beforehand, choosing students aged 7 to 12 (variable) to
practice ahead of time with a designated teacher/leader on the toy
instruments with scores provided by I Musici de Montréal. The
instruments are: (all toys) trumpet, drum, duck cuckoo, ratchet,
nightingale, triangle. Day of concert rehearsal is coordinated with
instruments provided by the professionals. The concert program
includes one piece with the students: Leopold Mozart's Toy Symphony.
- The Toy Symphony pre-concert workshop, with I
Musici de Montréal member Francoise Morin (American, bi-lingual) who
goes into a school setting and gives a lecture/demonstration about
the upcoming Toy Symphony concert to prepare the students for the
program. Especially for groups of about 30-40 students. Francoise
brings the instruments and demonstrates each one, she has the
children try out the toy instruments actually used in the
performances, and does listening exercises with them. This is
especially targeted to kids who have no exposure to music class, so
they can have some idea of what to expect when seeing youth
performing with the members of I Musici de Montréal in the Toy
Symphony . (Note, this workshop may also be available in Spanish.)
- The Tchaikovsky Children's Album, particularly
for youth 7 - 12, a workshop with I Musici de Montréal, lead by
conductor Yuli Turovsky, who uses the evocative power of the work to
get the students actively involved in the music. Turovsky asks the
students questions and leads them through this irresistable score.
If possible, a good young flutist in the community will also be
asked to join in for the one movement that features the flute.
