The 5 Beethoven Piano Concerti &
Choral Fantasia
New Years' Eve in Kaufman Auditorium at the 92nd Street YMHA, in New York
City.

In August 1997 Anton Kuerti performed all 5 Beethoven Concerti in one
evening at the Festival de Lanaudiere. All 2000 seats sold out, and 1500
people listened on the grass. It was a "stunning success" (Montreal
Gazette), and was greeting with a "triumphal ovation" (La Presse,
Montreal); "his joy of communicating is so magistral that no one can
resist it...the audience truly had the impression, that this is
Beethoven...stunned, one realizes that one is no longer hearing Kuerti,
but just Beethoven, that one had penetrated into the ear of the deaf man
and that every intermediary between his creative effort and the
performance had been transcended by a dizzying short-circuit..." (Le
Devoir, Montreal).
This unique event (which, as far as can be determined, had never been done
before) was repeated on New Years' Eve, 1998 in Kaufman Auditorium at the
92nd Street YMHA, in New York City, and in Worcester Mass. in Oct. 1998.
Several other repeats are being booked.
